Our new Cloud Work Group held its initial meeting yesterday, in a very
successful teleconference. Thanks to all of you who attended! Here’s a
summary of what happened.
If you have colleagues who are interested in Cloud Computing, but are
not involved in Open Group activities, please share it with them.
This was the first Cloud Work Group teleconference. Its purpose was to
get the work group going and make plans for setting up its charter,
electing its officers, and starting its work program.
The teleconference was very well attended, with over 50 participants,
clearly demonstrating the will and enthusiasm of Open Group members to
work on Cloud Computing.
Because so many people were present, it was impossible for all of them
to introduce themselves individually and explain their objectives for
the Work Group. Nevertheless, over 20 people put forward high-level
statements of objectives. These were captured, and will be the starting
point for the development of The Open Group’s Cloud Computing work program.
The process for establishing the Work Group, outreach, and initial work
items were all discussed. Draft conclusions on these topics are recorded
in these minutes as “Resolutions”, but it should be recognized that they
are subject to further discussion, because many people did not have an
opportunity to state their views during the meeting. Further discussion
will be by e-mail on the cloud-wg list. Meanwhile, the conclusions will
be provisionally adopted as a basis for action.
The teleconference provided an excellent starting point, and generated
great initial momentum. We must now look to maintain that momentum in
building the Cloud Computing Work Group and executing its work program.

You need to be a member of the cloud-wg list to access this page. If you
are not on this list but would like access, please send e-mail to
cloud-admin@opengroup.org asking to be added.
Further announcements about the Cloud Work Group will be sent to the
cloud-wg list rather than to all members. If you want to be part of our
work on Cloud, now is the time to to join the Group!
